Blogmas {Day Fifteen} | Christmas Day Meal

Blogmas Day Fifteen

Decided to go a little more festive as I should on blogmas day fifteen but with a slight twist.  Last night I was talking with my husband about when were we going to go Christmas food shopping.  He replied, “do we really need anything?”  Well, the food for Christmas day would be nice, so he asked can’t we just have turkey pizza or something. I gave his suggestion some careful thought, not becoming annoyed like I normally would. Christmas dinner always had taken place at my mum’s. This then changed due to reasons I am not going to go into here.

So for the last 3/4 years, I have made the roast dinner for just the three of this.  I would serve a traditional dinner with all the trimmings, adapting this a couple of years ago when I became a vegetarian.  Which made things a little difficult as I was the only one who liked the vegetarian substitutes, so this year I was planning on doing that for me and meat for them.

This option, on the other hand, is a complete winner really. So while we were talking about it I asked Amelia if she could have anything, what would she like. Cheesy pasta came the reply.  So instead of conforming this year lets give them what that want.

So what do you do for Christmas lunch/dinner? Stay traditional or do things a bit differently?

I think it is a great idea. Give the people what they want. We love doing the big turkey dinner and I am very lucky because the husband cooks. We have a big fry up in the morning, snack through the day and we eat pretty late at about 5/6. I think the timing of our meal is a little less traditional as most people we know have it as lunch. But you have to do what works for you and yours x

      That was my plan.

Couple of days before Christmas, he tells me I was only joking about the pizza. So I ended up making a quick roast, but with chicken breasts for them.

We did have it late afternoon though and I think it was the most chilled roast dinner I have ever made.

What do you think?
